'We Proclaim' is a hybrid text audio screengaze art installation.
'We Proclaim' would be anchored by a cross-section of public proclamations pertaining to our shared climate emergency.
The proclamations would be sourced and gathered from expanding social media connections and contacts.
The artwork project idea of 'We Proclaim' would be presented to said connections, and the following question posed:
"In regards to our shared climate emergency, what do you proclaim?"
If the connection engages by answering the aforementioned question, then the connection would in turn become an active participant of the 'We Proclaim' source log file.
The participant's answer would be sent as a text and audio file (voicemail) to the 'We Proclaim' social media account.
The manifestations of the raw text and audio data would form the core of the expanding log file (source material).
Post-gathering of proclamations, files would be technically prepared, and installation tests performed by artists and technical assistants.
And in time, the final sequential composition of 'We Proclaim' would be manifested.
'We Proclaim' would exist as a gallery installation, and would also be uploaded into the forever expanding flux of the information age.
The gallery installation would consist of a computer, large screen, desk, chair, and a semi-circle (or circle) of speakers.
The screen would display the active log file of text proclamations, and the speakers would amplify the audio proclamations, both text and audio would be synced as a duality.
Depending on the size of the gallery/museum space, the installation would also include chairs and stalls of different sizes (for adults and children), presenting a space to sit and listen to the global voices, whilst driting in data log screengaze.
The duration of the artwork is unknown at this stage, as it depends on the number of participants; the artwork could be minutes, hours, or days long.
The heights of the speakers would vary to accommodate the heights of adults and children.
In the manifestation of 'We Proclaim' a multi-faceted plethora of global comments, opinions, ideas, suggestions, and actions would be communicated, vocalised, and disseminated.
'We Proclaim' has no cap, is expandable, scalable, repeatable, non-elitist, inclusive, and accessible.
'We Proclaim' is a morphing collaborative manifesto and is a composite of valor and progressive intentions pertaining to the future of our shared environment.
